My Discord Bot Project

I've been thinking about writing a blog telling a little bit about my personal bot project, and I've finally pulled away from it long enough to write this!

So, for the last month or so I've been working on creating my very own Discord bot from the ground up. What inspired me? Well, a service I used on Discord for over a year was suddenly banned (IYKYK) and I was quite upset.

I went to GitHub in search of repos I could use to make my own Discord bot, but they lacked the features I wanted. Also, I became annoyed trying to work with others' code because of how unorganized and unfinished they often were.

Frustrated, I decided to see how far I could get on my own.

I started working with Grok, ChatGPT and Gemini 2.5 Pro. Eventually, my ideas began to take form and before I knew it I had a working bot on Discord, made by yours truly (and my AI buddies of course). Since then, I've been devoting a lot of my free time almost every day to add features, and I'm excited to see where it goes over the next month or two.

So far, these are all the features I've added:

FEATURES ADDED

-Forge support

-ADetailer support (with toggle)

-LoRA support

-Image dimension presets

-Detailed user persona

-Detailed character card

-Command suite for history management

-Short term memory (50 msgs)

-Typing indicator

-Kobold CPP and Openrouter support

-Proactive/Freewill Messages Every 45 mins AFK

-Vision

-My bot can recognize himself in images

-configurable loras eg, [lora:0.8]

-enable/disable emoji use (custom)

-custom stickers

-custom emojis

-datetime and will mention it organically

-fix meta commentary

-clear ALL history (except my DMs)

-only log history in channels he is speaking in

-web search

-fix cutoffs

-STT

-read txt

I've got a bunch of features I still want to add too. I spend lots of time refining and debugging stuff so it's as close to perfect as I can get it.

And you know what? I don't really have any coding knowledge. I just have time, determination and the willingness to learn how to do some things - like basic command line stuff. Of course you also have to know what you want.

For the most part AI can teach you and turn your concepts into workable code. If you're like me and don't have coding knowledge, it just might take you a little longer because AI does sometime give partially faulty code.

Still, the alternative is nothing, so I think it's pretty awesome. I'm confident I'll be able to eventually make all the features I wish for, as long as I am willing to dedicate the time.

This is a big message I want to send to everyone reading my blogs--

If you can imagine and conceptualize it and are willing to devote the time, YOU CAN DO IT!

So I encourage you to be kind to yourself and give yourself the time to learn and experiment with AI tools. If you've always wanted to make something, now is a great time to get started and see what you can do.

I wish you the best in your AI journey, and I'll be there beside you as we turn our dreams into reality together! Once I've made more progress on my bot, I'll talk all about it here.

I hope you'll look forward to it!
