So I've spent the last day playing around with Gemini 2.5 Flash Image Preview (aka Nano Banana) and I have been having a lot of fun with it.

It's really simple to use and it can do some pretty great stuff, but is it perfect?

Of course, the answer is no, it is not perfect. When you're trying to edit the same image multiple times or trying to do a unique style, it may goof up. I've found that reminding it of the style we're trying to do or flat out starting a new chat is the best method of dealing with this.

The model is still in preview mode though, so I'm sure it will continue to improve. But from what I have seen so far, in my own experience, it's very good! And the best part is it is accessible. You don't have to have your own setup for generating images on your computer, no installation required, and right now it's completely free to try, though for how long I don't know.

If you've not heard of it yet, this model let's you generate images and also edit them! People have been making all kinds of fun things by uploading pictures of themselves and friends and having the AI place them into all kinds of different situations. There are a million things you can do with this tool; your imagination is truly the limit, which is why AI is so much fun, right?

I made a load of cute stickers and I'm not making my own Clow Card set (have my own official set, one of my most prized childhood possessions!)

I was impressed with how well it (usually) was able to replicate the style with a little instruction. Here are some examples:

It's a lot of fun and I've only just begun to test some of my ideas.

So, you've read this far and you're wondering, well okay, but where can I try it?! The best place to try it is on Google AI Studio just make sure you select Gemini 2.5 Flash Image Preview from the right hand side. Where else can you try it for free?

You can also head over to Openrouter and click on Chat to start a chat with the model and try it out.

Note that you will need a Google account or an Openrouter account respectively to try out these options. There are other places you can try it too, but these are the two I've been using. I think I've not done a blog about Openrouter yet, so I'll try to get it out very soon!

Have fun in your AI journey!
